From the Sentinel:
Voters of the Monadnock Regional School District have passed a new teachers contract, according to Superintendent Kenneth R. Dassau.
Residents of Fitzwilliam, Gilsum, Richmond, Roxbury, Sullivan, Surry and Troy approved the new teachers contract by a margin of 1,970 to 1,310.
Tuesday’s vote on the contract represented a special election, granted by Cheshire County Superior Court judge, who ruled that low morale and wages that were frozen without a contract constituted the “emergency” situation required by law to hold an election before the annual meeting in March.
There is so much here to say. First it’s “thank-you” to all those who voted: I’ll thank each of them later. From the former students who wrote me all night long asking for updates, to the parents who came out for their kids, to the people who posted and read and learned, to the people who stood outside and held signs. To the people who put up the signs for Kids First Monadnock to Mike Hoefer, to the people who worked so hard.
This is not the end. This is the start. We have more to do—but tonight is for thanks, for gratefulness to those who have done so much. Tonight is a blessing, and we give a humble heart and gratitude to all who deserve it, to Truth, to all that is right.
As is often the case, the Bard said it well:
I can no other answer make, but, thanks, and thanks. ~William Shakespeare

I’m so happy right now, wish I could be there tomorrow to see everyone happy!
