Deception, Lies, and Liars
August 11th, 2008Anyone who has followed district politics for long enough, especially those online, knows that opinion seems divided. For every effort made to share the truth about what’s going on, for every position, there’s always another voice dissenting.
There is nothing wrong in this; we do not need to be unanimous in order to be a community. However, one of the key ideas is that the people involved in the discussion are part of the community—that those involved are stakeholders in all events. For it to be otherwise would be the local equivalent of discovering a foreign power (think Soviet Union during the Cold War) was directly interfering with the election of the US President. To say it would be a “vile breach of ethics” is a modest understatement.
Which leads me to the Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers, the Monadnock Taxpayers Association, “NH” “classicmacos@*****.****” “Not Rich” “themacintoshlady@*****.****” Jane Aiken, and this blog.
I’ve mentioned Jane Aiken before, as a member of the Free State Project and an individual opposed to Public Education—who also designed the website for the Monadnock Taxpayer’s Association. If you’ll follow that first link, you’ll see that the allegation that there was a connection of ideology between Ms. Aiken and the Monadnock Taxpayer’s Association was immediately rebuffed by “NH.”¹ We went round and about for awhile, but the key thing to recognize here is that the email address was “classicmacos@*****.****” and that the IP address was out of Manchester, New Hampshire.
In short, there was never any connection to the Monadnock community—but I let it go, never pointed this out, since the goal of this whole endeavor has been to invite more people into learning about education and what it takes to do it well. We’re engaged in a search for truth, and that requires multiple viewpoints.
“NH” continued to post on the blog,² all of it negative, and I finally called him out here after a comment about needing to eat cat food to survive. After that, “NH” never posted again, though I got the occasional gem from “Anon.” All of it was negative and bordering on insulting, but I understand a little flack is to be expected when flying over hostile territory.
Still, it bugged me, because in not naming themselves and not revealing who they were, they allowed others to think they represented the opinions of others in the community—or that they numbered more than one individual. By coming right out and stating categorically that it was a choice between food and schools for some people they let others who did not know the truth think there was a problem where none in fact existed. In misrepresenting themselves as a part of the community, they lied—they carpet-bagged their way in for the sole intent of manipulating others.
So I did some researching, some fact-checking. Actually, I had a friend do it, which is even better, and I made sure he cited his sources. And I waited, until a few Tuesday’s ago, when I posted the good news about the special election it was immediately attacked by “Not Rich.”
“Not Rich” also had an email address “themacintoshlady@*****.****” and an IP address out of… Yes, you guessed it, Manchester, New Hampshire. There’s also an interesting connection between “classicmacos” and “themacintoshlady”—it seems as if there’s a theme in names there, doesn’t it?
More importantly, there was a great deal of information out there for “themacintoshlady”, if one knew where to look. This was found at a Macintosh listserv:

Thank goodness it was a small thing, but it sure gave me a big scare! Due to that scare, I now am updated, repaired, and BACKED UP, so something good came of it.
Photoshop 7.0.1 and Image Ready need to have the .app appended or it will eventually lose its icon and the ability to open.
A nice woman on the Apple Forum helped with that! Hopefully, end of story.
I can no longer get PS for cheap, since I retired from teaching after 35 years, and 7.x does what I want, and was told it would work fine with Tiger. It has a few minor updates and it WAS working fine ’til this happened. But later versions of X want the .app on there.
And so it shall be!
Thanks for everyone’s input.

Pay attention to the red text. Notice that the “themacintoshlady” email is linked to the initial “J.” Also note that “J” admits to being a teacher for 35 years, which jives with what was written about Jane Aiken by “classicmacos” here. In addition to that, we have this, taken from the same listserve:

I often have to send to membership lists via BCC.
So, let’s say I have webmaster@….. to webmaster@… and the BCC
addresses.OK, I open the SENT mail and that’s what it says, HOWEVER, in the
LIST of sent mail, it says it went from a completely different address! What is messed up and how to fix it?

So I think we can safely say there’s a high probability that “themacintoshlady” is a “Jane.” There’s been some confirmation of that from other websites who have also been spammed, but that’s another story—if we add the information I already have to this nugget here:

Subject: [X-Newbies] Chopping Audio Files in iTunes
Message-ID: <74EB2DDA-EFE1-4107-9495-5650AE1E9CC9@earthlink.net>OK please bear with me…I’ve forgotten how I did something over and over, because I have not done it in a while.
I stopped podcasting our radio show in 2005 because I was getting tired of taking 2 600 MB FM quality files that were recorded on a CD recorder — one for each of the two hours — and having to reimport it at a lesser quality, bringing it down to 9 MB per hour and also, cutting out some intros at the start that were not clear.
I haven’t decided to do that again, but have one file I want to chop for another reason.
Now I can’t remember how!
I thought the process was to first import the file Then do get Info and set the time you wanted it to start - ok so far And then where to put in the recipe for the quality? I can’t find that. Then to re-import - not working! What did I do wrong?
I have to move it out of the iTunes folder first, I think that may be it, and start again, with a new name for the file.
Currently just trying to chop and re-import, and can’t figure that out. I still have the ‘recipe’ somewhere….for the quality.
I am doing too many things.. *sigh*

I use YIM and AIM for my radio broadcasts but since many are on Windows the MSM might be something I would want to try also.
Thanks
Jane Aiken has a radio show linked to the Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers, which makes her a bit more than just the “innocent webmaster” that “NH” claimed. The fact that “themacintoshlady” also had a need to reconfigure radio files for web streaming—well, that certainly points to a high level of probability that the “macintoshlady” is Jane Aiken.
So where does “classicmacos” come in? Remember, this is the same “NH” and “anon” who was so negative and so dedicated to shooting down any attempt at improving schools in this community. Try this:

So…if “classicmacos” is not Jane Aiken, they’re very close—possibly working together. There’s nothing concrete here, nothing 100%, but it does look about as certain as one can get on the internet. It’s clear that nearly every one of the negative comments posted about teachers and about education are from who are not a part of the Monadnock community at all. Even worse, the kind of comments left by “Not Rich” is a perfect example of exactly the point I’m trying to make here.
This is pervasive—do a search on this blog. It’s recent, and it’s bold-faced; the comment posted last Friday from the very same IP address as “Not Rich” was clearly written to give the impression the writer is a local teacher and a part of the Monadnock Taxpayer’s Association. They are neither local, nor a member of the association—as the association refuses to admit its membership—but he or she is a lying, vicious, dishonorable sneak.
He or she has no thought at all about what’s best for the community, she or he has no care about anything other than a personal, vicious agenda. It’s not about taxes, it’s not about having enough money, it’s about being a sneak, about hijacking the process to push forward goals that the vast bulk of the population, if they knew what was going on, would oppose. “Rich” and the rest know they would be opposed, and so they obscure, they work in the shadows, they hide in anonymity.
And what’s the connection to the Monadnock Taxpayer’s Association? Other than the fact that Jane Aiken created their website, it’s also the exact same tactics the Monadnock Taxpayer’s Association constantly engages in when they’re pushing their agenda. It’s never about money, because they will obscure, misrepresent, and choose to make decisions which ultimately cost more money.
For instance, and most telling, was Dick Buaries comment in the Keene Sentinel about the special election:
But Bauries said this morning that the latest contract is padded with unnecessary spending such as early retirement, which the town of Sullivan has charged was never legal in the first place in a case pending in Superior Court.
“Our position is that we vehemently oppose the contract because of all the pork that’s in it,” he said, adding that the members of the Monadnock School Taxpayers Association’s executive council, who he declined to identify, will be meeting to discuss the group’s next step.
Early retirement Mr. Buaries? He knows, as well as I do, as well as anyone with half an inclination to find the truth that this contract removes early retirement. By passing this contract, early retirement goes away. In fact, the only way to remove early retirement is to pass this contract. Does he say that? No—and why would he? It’s far too big a buzzword, too large a stick to give up when one wants to beat down not taxes but public education. There’s no care at all about what’s best for the community, but only the agenda so sickeningly selfish.
Pork, Mr. Bauries? There is no pork in this contract! Pork is additional spending outside of the domains of the bill. If the contract were to give each teacher a million dollar raise, then that would not be pork it would be the contract. There is nothing close to pork here, though there is a great deal of baloney in Mr. Bauries’ statement. In fact, the $600.00 increase represents less than a .5% raise for the last four years. It does not come anywhere close to the standard raise in the business world, does not come close to the cost of inflation, does not come close to being enough, but it’s still opposed by a monstrous deception foisted on the people of the Monadnock district.
Executive Council of the Monadnock Taxpayer’s Association Mr. Bauries? There is no executive council, which is the reason you failed to name them. There are four individuals—four individuals who hide their motives, their numbers, and their selfish ends under the cloak of an association that does not publish their membership, and does not allow others to join for the very same self-serving ends that “NH” “classicmacos” “anon” and “Not Rich” never reveal their name or their identity—to do so would tear away the veil of concealment and reveal them for what they are.
And how very selfish, and how very small minded, and how very vile that reality is.
1 Although slightly off topic, I would like to point how how insulting—and more importantly, misleading it is for an individual to choose as a name the state postal abbreviation. As if they speak for the whole state? Please. But keep on going—it’s the same tactic the Monadnock Taxpayer’s Association uses, which I’ll get to later. ↺
2 And not just here, either. They were on the Kids First Monadnock site as well—once again allowing the assumption to exist they were members of the community. The hypocrisy present in this is amazing, given the strong “local control” focus of the Coalition of New Hampshire Taxpayers. It takes someone with something not clicking to step into another town’s decision making process and not identify themselves as an outsider. ↺

Well said, Rob. This obviously took some serious legwork. Good on you for lifting the rock and showing folks what lives underneath.

Thank you for pointing these connections out. It’s about time someone did! Too bad our local newspaper isn’t willing to do it so more people can be educated.
Thanks for the props! I’m trusting that the Sentinel is working on it—there are many people who want the light of truth to be shining (as Laura very aptly put it) under the rock these people hide under. Right now, it’s what we as members of the community can do to educate our neighbors. Thanks!
